About the Director:

I think it's important to know who I am and what I do...because whenever anyone gives you advice or tries to sell you on classes or productions or projects, you should know their "agenda."

Personally, I have a varied background in the performing arts and events management.  My "career" began early...when I was a student, I was named "outstanding youth volunteer" by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  I ran my first major fundraiser while still in college, raising tens of thousands of dollars with a dance marathon.  I graduated from the University of Virginia and worked as the marketing rep for a string of McDonald's.   I have worked with nonprofits most of my life, including the Ronald McDonald House and Easter Seals.  I worked with the "Magic of Music" foundation to help grant music-related wishes to sick children.  I have taken kids backstage to meet pop artists (yes, I got to meet New Kids on the Block and M.C. Hammer!)  I served as the volunteer director and director of children and family programming at The ArtsCenter in North Carolina for several years before moving to Rome.

I worked as the executive director for Floyd College before leaving to work on the Olympics for two years as a volunteer.  I had the honor and privilege to work with a team from Oceania and loved every minute of living in the Olympic Village for the summer of 1996.  When I returned, I re-joined my friends at Floyd College as a Trustee for the college that has since changed its name to Georgia Highlands.  I have been a "Professional Volunteer" ever since!

When Rudy Childs asked me to help him with his musicals, we formed "Stars in Our Eyes, Inc." and set out producing some of the largest and most spectacular musicals in our corner of the state.  These musicals also raised tens of thousands of dollars for area charities.  We have assisted and/or run outside productions including the Rome and the Cedartown Follies.

I have been involved in numerous wonderful organizations in the last decade or so, including serving as president of the Seven Hills Garden Club and the Floyd-Polk-Chattooga Medical Alliance.  I also served as an area vice president for the state's Medical Alliance.  I was a founding member for the Rome Area History Museum and have served on numerous boards and committees including the American Heart Association, The Dogwood Ball, and the National Creative Society.  I am extremely proud to have been a recipient of the Heart of the Community Award.

Through the years, my activities have grown to encompass needs that were not currently being met, including working to supply Lands End catalogue with models, helping with extras casting for feature films and locations scouting and casting for independent films.  (All of these projects were done on a volunteer basis.)

My husband, Dr. Hunter Myers, and I took two dozen kids and parents to Lima, Peru on a Drama Mission Trip.  I have worked with agents at the Actors Symposium sponsored by the Chez Casting Group.  I have unofficially "managed" several kids/teens and helped them find top notch agents in the Atlanta area.  As the "Mom-ager" (that's Mom/Manager for those who don't know the term) for my own daughter, I have developed numerous contacts and gathered invaluable information about the industry of modeling and acting.

This is what I do....pure and simple.  I have helped/coached kids as they prepare for tv/film auditions and even for their local plays.  I have been a  judge for various things, including the Miss America pageant system, local talent competitions and singers for the Rome Braves.  I have attended hundreds of go sees, auditions, workshops, classes, industry panel discussions, etc. over the years.  I've done tons of research on theatre schools to help my graduating talent make informed decisions.  I've done the rounds of "open calls" in both Atlanta and Los Angeles with my daughter.  I've helped 60+ area kids/teens to get professional headshots at a greatly discounted price in the past two years in an efforts to "step up our game."  I've developed and managed several acting/modeling websites for these kids and I subscribe to BackStage, Now Casting, LA Casting, Hollywood Reporter, etc. etc. to stay on top of things.  I have helped several actors land roles in short films and helped aspiring models be in photo shoots for designers and other products.  I work with several photographers, fashion designers, casting directors, agents, makeup artists, magazine editors, film directors, etc. etc. on a daily basis.  Not "Disney" per se...rather, folks in the southeast (and some beyond) who just might be inclined to help out a talented newcomer!  I served as the extras casting director for the feature film "Dance of the Dead" where we recruited over a thousand volunteers.

I am a mother and a mentor to several talented individuals whom I have met through the various Stars activities.  I also happen to have a lot of talented friends who believe in the power of networking and "doing unto others."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As of July 2007, I am putting Stars on hiatus as I embark on a new adventure:  I have agreed to take over the Coastal Talent Kids Atlanta agency and will be working as the Agent for approximately 100 fantastically talented young actors.  (Wish me luck!)
